Party Lab, the Georgian event planning company that has captured the hearts of many since its launch two years ago, is poised for further growth with the introduction of its first party accessories store. Founder and Director Mariam Davitashvili has set the ambitious goal of establishing Party Lab as the “brand synonymous with celebration”.
Since its inception, Party Lab has transformed ordinary moments into extraordinary celebrations, showcasing a blend of creativity and determination. With a loyal customer base that values “quality, speed, and affordability”, Mariam believes the company has made a “significant mark” on the event planning industry.
Mariam shared, “I started this business two years ago with just a few employees. Last year, in response to high customer demand, we opened our first Party Lab festive accessories store. Today, we have established our market presence in two significant ways, which opens up many more opportunities for us.”
Party Lab has successfully attracted both individual customers and corporate clients, who increasingly turn to the company for their event decoration needs. As the company looks towards 2025, its main challenge is to gain the same level of trust from customers at the new store as it has with its event planning services.
“This growth is evident in the fact that many companies, in addition to individual customers, are utilizing our services for decorating their corporate events and gatherings,” Mariam added.
Q. Last year, Party Lab won the Golden Brand award in the category of dynamically developing brands, and this year it has been recognized as the top events company. Can you share your impressions from last year’s award and your thoughts on winning this year?
A. Last year and the year before were pivotal for our company. Our victory last year was a culmination of our hard work during that time. Building a company from the ground up without much experience is challenging, especially when envisioning it as a lasting brand rather than just a short-term venture. I have always been aware of this from the start. Despite the pessimistic views of many, my belief in myself and in Party Lab as a product enabled me to reach this level.
Q. How did last year’s award affect the company’s activities?
A. The Gold Brand Award played a significant role in our success. It’s one thing to believe you are the number one brand, but having proof of that belief acts as both a validation of quality for our consumers and a motivating factor for us.
Q. What types of events do your customers typically organize? What themes do they prefer? Is there any demand for themed events like Halloween or gender reveal parties?
A. We have seen an increase in orders from corporate clients, which speaks to Party Lab’s high credibility in the market. Corporate events are quite significant and require extensive planning and preparation. While Halloween may not be widely celebrated, it is a favorite within certain circles and is often celebrated with enthusiasm and a substantial budget, reflecting its importance to these groups. Gender reveal parties are also very popular, as many couples prefer to discover the gender of their future child in an original and festive manner.
Q. Do you come up with the concepts for the events and the products offered to your customers? How do you ensure diversity in your services?
A. Absolutely. The decoration of any event begins with a creative idea. This idea can be entirely ours, or we can collaborate with the customer to develop an even more sophisticated and trendy concept that aligns with their vision. Clients turn to us to ensure their event is tastefully and professionally arranged, keeping up with current trends. These trends change frequently, and staying updated is crucial. Our in-depth knowledge allows us to provide customized ideas for each client, regardless of the type of event. For instance, the aforementioned gender reveal ceremonies are designed to resonate with current trends, which our clients appreciate.
Q. How many people are employed at Party Lab and how do you find the right people?
A. Party Lab started with just two people. Now our team consists of myself and four permanent employees. Depending on the scale of the orders we receive, we periodically hire temporary staff to ensure we meet deadlines. In the early days, attracting talent was challenging since we weren’t a well-known company. But that has changed; we now have a strong reputation that attracts both customers and potential employees. It’s rewarding as a director to see this trust. I can confidently say that our company has a very friendly working environment.
Q. How does your team approach the creative process when planning events, from concept to execution?
A. Respect for the customer and delivering professional-grade work are the two key principles that guide both my personal approach and that of my employees. If we do not honor the wishes and visions of our clients and deliver top-quality results, we will never achieve our desired outcomes. We never compromise on this approach. Our work is unique; every employee in our company understands that clients choose us for specific reasons: they seek quality, timely service, efficiency, and most importantly, they trust us. We must maintain this trust by paying close attention to every detail. This commitment has contributed to our rapid growth and has made our company synonymous with quality.
Q. How did your interest in this field develop?
A. I’ve been creative since childhood, excelling at making beautiful decorations from simple materials. Although my early projects weren’t large-scale, working with small details honed my skills. I didn’t have a specific focus, as I could create beauty from almost anything. My interest in this particular field was significantly influenced by a movie I watched when I was ten years old — The Wedding Planner, with Jennifer Lopez. I was captivated by the idea that one person could manage so many tasks. As I grew older my aspirations evolved, and I wanted to bring a similar vision to my own country, expanding beyond just weddings. My primary goal is to establish Party Lab as a brand synonymous with celebration.
